CERES Fair Wood collaborated with 12 makers from our network and by supplying them with locally sourced timber to design and build a truly local piece of furniture. Keeping in mind its locality, who grew it and milled it, these objects formed part of an exhibition that celebrated the origin of the tree next to the finished product and invited guests to think about our connection to materials.
The exhibition was part of Melbourne Design Week 2023, an initiative of the Victorian Government with the support of NGV and ran from Mon 22nd May until Sun 28th May in the Industrial School at Abbotsford Convent. The exhibition took place on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri, Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation.
The exhibition included an opening night party and a makers panel discussion. All objects were for sale during the exhibition period, 5 objects were sold.
Over 800 people attended the exhibition over the 6 days.
